Introduction to Strata Law

Strata Law Made Clear and Practical

Get a practical, beginner-friendly introduction to how strata works in NSW, designed to simplify complex systems and give you clear, usable knowledge from day one. This course explains how strata schemes operate in real life, helping you understand how decisions are made, responsibilities are shared, and everyday issues are managed within a community setting.

With over 86,000 strata schemes and more than 1.2 million people living in strata across NSW and numbers continuing to grow due to increased urban density.

This course is ideal for owners, tenants, committee members, or anyone wanting to better understand strata living.

Students will:

  • Learn the history of strata, how schemes are registered, and what defines a lot, lot entitlements and common property
  • Understanding Owners Corporations, strata levies, finances, and how funds are managed
  • The roles of strata committees, managing agents, building managers, and the purpose of by-laws (including pets!!)
  • Responsibilities for repairs, emergency works, renovations, and tenant rights
  • How meetings work, notice periods, and decision-making processes
  • How to raise issues, resolve disputes, and navigate strata with confidence
