Sewing - Learn to Sew Workshop

New Workshop for Beginners!

Are you an absolute beginner or want to brush up on the basics? In this workshop you will learn to use a sewing machine then sew a lovely lined tote bag to take home.

During this 5 hour workshop you will learn how to:

-Thread your sewing machine.
-Sew different stitches.
-Sew straight and turn corners.
-Secure your stitches.
-Finish your seams so they don't fray.
-Understand seam allowances.
-Lay out fabric and cut correctly.
-Understand basic sewing terms.
-Follow a pattern.
-Sew a simple lined tote bag.

What to bring:

· Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. (Please let us know if you would like to use one of ours, there is a fee of $10pp, this goes towards maintenance of the machines).

· If you are bringing your own sewing machine, bring your manual if available. Also, ensure you have a fresh needle, size 80/12 would be ideal and have a few spares in case one breaks. If you have some sewing thread, bring that along, but there will be some spare on the day.

· We will take a short break to have some lunch, so it’s best to bring some so that you don’t waste too much precious sewing time. Alternatively, there are plenty of food outlets up the road where you can purchase something.

· If you have some fabric scissors and thread snips bring them along, but there will be some spare on the day.

· Pen and paper to take notes

What’s provided:

· Mugs, tea, coffee, milk and a fridge to store your food.

· Wi-Fi internet

· Fabric, thread and sewing notions as needed.

· Sewing pattern and instructions printed out.

At the end of the day you will leave with a finished tote bag and the confidence to sew your next project!
